Big Choices and more WONDERLAND!

I still live! I have made a major decision to try and get my Masters so last semester I got all my materials together to apply to two universities so now I am awaiting their response! Due to all the preparation as well as much commission work, I haven’t been available on this blog. However I’ve returned!

Two important announcements, I will be a part of two shows in the next two weeks. One is known as The Chocolate and Art Show. It will take part at The Wynwood Warehouse Project located at 450 NW 27th St Miami Fl. 33127.

Dragonball Z Fandom and Pastel Pencils!

I’ve been away for a while dealing with a lot of life changing decisions which I’m not sure I’m 100% sure on but I at least have decided how to handle the situations so that is why I have been M.I.A. for a while.

During my absence I have found a new medium PASTEL PENCILS! they are amazing and if  you are attempting to achieve small details with pastels, I believe these are your answer.

The two pieces I did below are my practice with the pencils. One is a cute little monster and another is a mermaid based off the Leafy Seadragon

Another thing I got back into again is Dragonballz. In all honesty that was my first anime. It is my ultimates of ultimates and I am super happy that they came out with a series continuation this year as well as an awesome new movie! Resurrection of F is amazing so if you haven’t seen it, I highly recommend it for any DBZ fan. Due to my infatuation with the series, I have done some fan art featured below, two are with my pastel pencils and two are markers

Alice Through the Looking Glass and TMNT

Just a quick post of two things I’ve been working on. One of my projects that I completed was a piece of Alice Through the Looking Glass from Chapter 3: Looking Glass Insects. It was a really cute chapter and this was my take on that chapter.

Alice

Also my piece at Tate’s Bear and Bird Gallery sold! But now someone loved it so much I am creating another piece with the turtles so I’m pretty stoked. Here are the previous turtles and the newest ones I’m one working on.

More Little Monsters and the Square show!

SQUARE SHOW

For those in the South Florida area, I have a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles piece showing at Tate’s Comic Book Store (Lauderhill Location) for the 5th Annual SQUARE SHOW! The show is open until May and there were a lot of other awesome pieces to look at so if you have the chance please check it out!

Conventions

Also I won’t have a convention until the beginning of April for Miami Hurricon on April 4, 2015. The convention will take place at Miami Airport Convention Center! It’s a very fun anime convention and it’s only $5 to get in!

LITTLE MONSTERS!

More little monsters have been created! They will be added to my Monsters page soon.

Little Monsters in Progress!

I have created five more little monsters. I will eventually scan them in properly so that I can have them on my Little Monsters page. They don’t have special names yet but again once I finalize them, I’ll upload them to my monsters page. Under each monster is an explanation of the criteria people gave me for the little monsters.

Dragons and Robots

If you saw my previous post, I discussed that as an exercise I had taken up doing quick sketches of little monsters where people had to suggest to me certain things they wanted in the creature for example this one:

opermyds_watermark

Here’s the Criteria:

* she had to be female

* she had to fly/swim

*she had to be fun (i made her more mischievous)

If you want to see more little monsters check them out here. If you’d like to help my creativity by suggesting a monster then please comment below. If you’d like an original to be shipped to you then please email me at keke.illustrations@gmail.com

Taking from my monster series, I became really intrigued by dragons and decided I wanted to draw them, so I figured I’d make them into the same game. The one difference this had to be a dragon, but the rest was all up to imagination. Here are some of the dragons I’ve created. I have created a page as well that I will continuously add my progress on the dragons. It’s under PROJECTS

Here are the dragons:

Just like the monsters if interested in suggesting a dragon, please comment below and I’ll add it to my queue. The dragons will be watercolored, the problem is I haven’t had the time to so far.

And a third series has emerged as well. This one is not so far in its stages but it is also a derivative of the monsters project but with ROBOTS! It has to be a robot and the rest is fair game. here are three I’ve worked on so far

I’m debating on the medium for this so let me know your opinion. I’m leaning towards watercolor/color pencil but maybe you have another idea.

Down the Rabbit Hole we Go!

Just to explain the tag line. I decided as a fun project for myself to possibly do a small comic of my own take on Alice in Wonderland. The comic I have in mind takes place after the book and she is a young preteen at the age of 11. So I’ve begun doing concept sketches for all the characters. I have the cheshire cat which is based off the first one I created. I have done concept sketches for the Mad Hatter and Alice.

Also I have received a new sketchbook that has black paper which is fabulous! I made the Mad Hatter in the sketchbook with prismacolor pencils! Here are few other Sketches also with prismacolor pencils:

Pastel Sketches

I am a huge fan of prismacolor Nupastels however they of course create a mess wherever they go. So to find a place in which to have fun with the medium is quite difficult. But I cracked out the nupastels and created these two images.

Kid Flash

So did a quick marker sketch of Kid Flash.

Kid Flash

Hoping to do another sketch with Impulse. But definitely need more practice. This is a learning process with markers and dynamic poses.
